For Always Girly Bracket Frame

Today's special artwork again features the Chantilly Textiles, fun and versatile My Creations Bracket Frame, Black Sparkle Flourishes, Hollyhock Zipper Lace, and my beautiful daughter Amelia,

When I began creating the frame, and I had planned to just decorate the frame and create some other fun flowers out of fabric. However, as I began cutting my strips to make my flowers, I wondered what the fabric would look like gathered and attached to the back of the frame. I decided to take a chance and go with it, and after I finished the fabric ruffles, I was thrilled with the result. I had created a fun frame that had a feminine playful touch.

I am thinking of offering this frame as a workshop, so if you see this and are interested in learning how to make it, let me know and if I get enough interest I will do a workshop and create some step-by-step directions.

I also plan to have a few blog posts in the near feature that show how to create this beautiful flower embellishments, so check back soon.

Dainty... Chantilly Layout

On Friday, I shared my 6" x 6" For Always Canvas that I created with some of my NEW Close to My Heart goodies, and today I want to share another special piece of artwork I designed. This project features a very special little lady in my life--my daughter Amelia.

I decided to be brave and work with the NEW Chantilly Textiles which were just released in February in the NEW Spring/Summer 2013 Idea book.  I had seen some beautiful fabric flowers on Pinterest and knew that I could create the same thing with our bright fabrics.

The flat flower is created by cutting a 1/2" strip of fabric and then twisting and rolling it along a circle piece of paper. As the fabric coils around the circle, you can keep it from moving by using a few drops of liquid glass or hot glue.

These photos were taken almost 10 years ago when Amelia was just 1 1/2 years old, of course she isn't so "little" anymore, but I have always loved these photos of her trying on her princess dress for a wedding she was going to be in.

Her porcelain white skin and blond hair gave her the look of being "Dainty," but she also had a curious energy and busy spirit that kept my world spinning as I tried to keep up with her. That energy and spirit are still true of my "Emma" today, and many times instead of just sitting and watching TV you will find her holed up in her room very busy with creating some new crafty projects with fabric, paper, and her new obsession--Duck Tape.

Or you will find her sitting by my side in my scrap studio asking how I made a certain embellishments and wanting to learn how that very minute. {I think I may have a future Close to My Heart consultant in a few years} I love that we can bond over our love of "crafting" and how use that love to celebrate those memories and photos that have special meaning for us.

Glitter Glam

It’s easy to add glitter glam to your projects with products like glitter paper, Shimmer trim, glitter gel, and more.

Watch this quick video to learn how to balance that shimmer and bling and not overpower your artwork. I love the tons of tips that Stacy shares in the video!

For Always Canvas

I have been busy in my scrap studio over the last few weeks creating some top-secret projects. Now that I have finished packing my big box of artwork and sent it off to Close to My Heart, I can share them with you!

The first one that I will share today uses the 6" x 6"  Canvas, For Always paper, Black shimmer tape, Black tulle, and small sparkle flourishes. This canvas is a perfect way to display a cherished photo and doesn't take up much room. You can hang it on the wall, or stand it up on a display stand for on a table or your desk.

I also used the Artiste Cricut cartridge to make the beautiful rolled roses. I decided to keep them pretty simple and opted not to sponge them in ink before I rolled them {if you know me, then you realize that is not normal for me--I do love my ink distressing}.To get a more realistic look for the roses, I gently rolled the edges of the flower shape over before I twisted and rolled the rose up.

If you want to create your own canvas you can sign-up and attend my workshop and make one for just $10, don't worry if you can't attend the workshop or live long distance. I will make a kit up for you and send it to you along with directions.
