I also created these gifts to be very easy to put together on your own, so you can feel confident in ordering a few kits and completing them on your own in case you cannot attend my scheduled workshop!

Monday, November 30th

6:30 PM-8:30 PM

Beckie's house, Oshkosh

Cost is just $6 for each gift!

Please RSVP by Monday, November 23rd TO
beckielehman@yahoo.com or call (920)232-0832

I got the idea for the DVD Tins from fellow consultant K.Aaron Brown and had a lot of fun creating lots of them using Close To My Heart's beautiful papers, ribbons, embellishments, and ink pads. I just love that they can be customized depending on who you are making the gift for and you can include a small box of crayons or colored pencils for a child, OR include a gift card in the pocket and your gift is complete. You can even skip wrapping the gift in paper, and just tie a cute bow around the tin and present them with a cute, yet practical gift!

You can also choose to make this unique Flip Flap album designed by fellow consultant Anna Jarnigan. Using a few pieces of cardstock, B&T paper, Flip Flaps, & embellishments you can create this album which is perfect to use a Brag book, or use it as a Mini-album and create an album based on one event! I think the Back Country album will be perfect to showcase Grandpa's love of fishing, or one of your families annual camping trip!

Grace kit of the Month

With the wind blowing and leaves falling I am reminded that Fall is here and soon Thanksgiving will be upon us in less than a month!!! I love the smell of burning leaves, pumpkin pie, and roasting turkey, but I think one of my most favorite things about this time of year is the reminder to be grateful for family and friends. I love to take pictures at Thanksgiving of all my loves ones gathered around the table overflowing with good food, and us all sharing what we are thankful for each year.

This month's kit of the month Grace will be the perfect complement to those treasured photos and I am already planning on the special moments I can capture with my camera this year to fill these layouts. (Thanks to Karen P. for the inspiration) The Grace paper is rich in color and I just love the images on the Stickease, especially the cute shadows of the kids. Even the buttons threaded with the Crystal Blue waxy flax adds to the charm of these layouts. Please contact me today to purchase your own Grace kit of the month and get started creating your own layouts perfect for showcasing those Thanksgiving photos!

Advent Calendar

I must admit that Christmas is my favorite time of year and I love to decorate our home from top to bottom! My husband Tedd teases me that if I continue to collect so many decorations that our entire 3rd floor attic will be filled to the max. I'm not sure why I love the Christmas season so much, but I can remember even as a child the excitement I would feel as we began to transform our home into a Christmas wonderland. That excitement has rubbed off on my kids who also love to decorate their rooms and every available surface with glitter, ribbons, and bows, and the occasional John Deere tractor!

Even though decorating for Christmas can be a great activity, I sometimes find that the true meaning of Christmas can get lost in all the activities, decorations, gifts and just craziness of the season. To try and help myself and my children get centered on the GIFT of JESUS this holiday, I created an adorable Advent calendar using Close To My Heart's My Creations Artboard, Jingle paper pack & round tins. I plan to fill the tins with small candies, and a little note with a meaningful Bible verse and special activity we can do together each day.

Isn't the calendar so cute? I even love that it becomes an instant Christmas decoration while being a great memory and Tradition Maker with the family.I plan to display my Advent calendar on an easel, but you can also hang it on the wall with a nail.

If you'd like to make an Advent calendar of your own I have a workshop coming up on:

Thursday, November 12th

6:30 PM to 9:00 PM

Cost is just $30

Please RSVP to me by Wednesday, November 4th so I have enough time to order the supplies. If you cannot attend the workshop you can also order a kit with instructions and you can create one on your own time and even enlist the help of your kids if you'd like. I would also love to do a special Advent calendar workshop for you and your friends on a date you choose, so contact me today and we can arrange a time that would work for you!

Marble Inking

Do you remember in art class back in Elementary school when we took a pie tin, black ink from a pen, some paper, and a marble or two and created a work of art? I do and am so happy that we can do that technique again only with updated products and fun stamps. I created this cute card today to use for a Home Gathering I have this weekend and want to thank fellow consultant Margi Gilbertson for the great idea!

I know many of you can remember doing this fun technique back in school, but might want to re-create it now that you're older! So gather the following supplies and you can make your very own "Happy Halloween" marble inking card.
  • 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" White Daisy CS folded in half for card base
  • 2 1/2" x 4 1/4" Sorbet dots paper from "Twitterpated"
  • 3/4"x 4 1/4" Olive Cardstock
  • 2 1/2" x 3 1/2 " White Daisy CS
  • 2 3/4" x 3 3/4" Olive CS
  • C1374 Spellbound Stamps
  • C1324 Spooky Smiles stamps
  • Black Bitty Brads
  • Olive Big Brads
  • Black Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Sorbet Ink Pad
  • Olive Ink pad
  • Black Ink Pad
  • Paper piercer & mat
  • Edge Distresser
  • White Delta Ceramcoat paint
  • 2-3 marbles
  • Plastic container
  • Tweezers
Attach your black piece of cardstock to the bottom of plastic container with temporary adhesive. Mix a small amount of white Ceremcoat paint in small container with water. Drop the marbles in with the paint and use tweezers to pick them up and place in container with Black Cardstock. Tilt the container back and forth until Black cardstock is marbled and has web-like appearance. Remove cardstock from container and set-aside to dry.

Stamp pumpkin with Sorbet, pumpkin face, fence, tree, and bat with Black and Stem & Vine with Olive on White Daisy cardstock. Edge distress the Olive cardstock pieces, and ink distress the Sorbet Dots paper with Black ink. Attach stamped White Daisy piece to Olive CS and attach 2 black bitty brads for eyes, and 1 large Olive brad through Black ribbon. Finish assembling card, and stamp "Happy Halloween" on front of the card. Send the card to someone who needs some encouragement to their day or keep it for yourself. ENJOY!

The Boo Crew

I just loved this layout that my friend and fellow consultant Carol Schmidt created that I had to create one for myself and share it with you all. I think you will agree that this layout is so cute and clever. The title strip "Boo Crew" is created using our Dimensional Elements and some sandpaper, and if you attend my 2009 Year of Layouts workshop you will learn how to make the title and will even create this layout for yourself. Even better, you will create 2 other layouts that would be great to showcase your pictures from this Fall and Christmas season.

When: Monday, November 2nd, 2009
Time: 6 Pm-9 PM
Where: at my house in Oshkosh
Cost: Just $15 for six 12"x12" pages (what a great deal)

Please contact me at beckielehman@yahoo.com to reserve a spot and don't wait too long as this class fills-up very quickly! If you can't attend the workshop night I will stamp up your layouts for just an additional $3 and your hands don't even need to get inky (unless you ink distress when you put them together!!!)

It's beginning to look a lot like...

The weather is starting to get cooler and the wind is blowing and though it's not looking quite like Christmas yet, in just a few months Christmas will be here. If you're anything like me, you have great intentions to be organized and get a head start on all those Christmas preparations, but always find yourself scrambling to get everything done in that last week! I tell myself every year that I am going to start earlier and with an organized plan, but the craziness of life creeps in and I struggle to enjoy the Holiday Season.

If this sounds at all like your life during the Holidays, I invite you to come along with me in the next two month's and create some special keepsakes, cards, scrapbook layouts, and even a great gift or two. Hopefully by taking a little time now, we can all avoid the craziness and madness that comes with Christmas, and enjoy our families and friends and focus on the real reason for the season. JESUS!

Keep tuning in to my blog over the next week and you will see all the amazing projects I've been creating over the last few weeks to help you and myself get a jump start on Christmas this year. The first workshop that I want to tell you about is my Christmas Cards Workshop and thanks to Carol and Nona who supplied some great creative inspiration I made these 5 adorable cards this last week!

This year I invite you to make some cards with me that will guarantee to have everyone asking you how you created such beautiful and unique cards. You will create 4 of each of the five designs for a total of 20 cards, and you have the option to create more cards in multiples of 10. The cards feature all Close to My Heart products and also include matching envelopes.

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

And as an early Christmas gift I would be happy to stamp up a card kit for you at no additional charge in case you cannot attend my workshop date! Just contact me by the 21st so I can make sure to have enough paper cut and supplies on hand.

This month I am really enjoying my Cherish scrapbook clubs as we create some really cute pages using one of Close to My Heart's newest paper packs "Twitterpated." I can't wait for the leaves to start falling off the trees and I can get my kids outside and take some pictures of them jumping in the leaves. I know that the beautiful colors of Sorbet, Sweet Leaf and Chocolate will be the perfect complement to my fall photos.

I also just love the cute mushrooms on the Dimensional Element buttons and Stickease, which help make my layouts extra special. The mushrooms kind of remind me of the Holly Hobby dolls I used to play with as a young girl. If you are too young to remember those cute dolls, then I am really feeling old today and don't tell me. O.K. Anyways, no matter how old or young we are we can have fun creating one of a kind layouts with fun and unique embellishments.

If you are interested in trying out one of my Cherish scrapbook clubs and creating your own six 12" x 12" pages, please contact me and we'll see what class might work for you. We meet monthly in either my home or in one of the group members homes and enjoy a creative night out with friends while we learn new techniques and create some beautiful pages that can help you capture those treasured moments.

Close to My Heart products used: Twitterpated Level 2 paper packet (X7118B) Twitterpated Stickease (X7118C), Dimensional Elements In Color Buttons (Z1230), Natural Hemp (Z280), Chocolate Collection Ribbon (Z1127), Hello There stamp set, Chocolate Ink pad (Z2111), Sweet Leaf Ink Pad (Z2153), Sorbet Ink Pad (Z2164), Liquid Glass (Z679), Basic Brad Assortment (Z1218), Foam tools (Z1090)

I was working this weekend on trying to finish up the final 2 layouts for the cute Tinkerin' kit of the month for my Cherish clubs and was so excited to finally be able to use these adorable pictures of my two youngest kids, Joshua and Amelia, jammin' out with daddy on his guitar. I took these pictures back in November 2007 and just hadn't found the perfect paper or layout to use them. I just love when I create a layout and can go through my binder and find the perfect pictures already printed and ready to use. The supplies I used for this layout are Tinkerin' level 2 paper and Stickease, Badge Buttons, Summer Carnval Brads, Twilight Ink pad, Sunflower ink pad, and Clover Meadow Green Ink pad.

What you can't see from the pictures is that Joshua had been struggling to quiet down, concentrate and sit on his special "guitar picture" spot on the rug at preschool for many weeks and finally as a last resort we had promised him that if he had 3 good days in a row he could play daddy's cool guitar. Of course it didn't take long and Joshua had earned the privilege of rockin' out with daddy. I can still remember that night as Joshua nearly bursting with excitement watched daddy pull out that precious guitar and sit on the floor. Daddy became an instant magnet and I just took pictures trying to capture the concentration and joy between father and son.

Not to be outdone by her little brother, Amelia had to join the act and get equal time on that guitar. We spent at least an hour or two rockin' on that guitar and I know that none of will ever forget that special night. The title for the layout is TOGETHER...TAKE TIME EVERYDAY TO DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE. I think that sometimes we forget as busy moms, that the most special moments can occur when we take some time and share our passions with our kids!

Lately we've been having family fun playing Guitar Hero: World Tour and I must say we have some budding rock stars in the family. Joshua and Amelia love the drums, and Annaka is working on mastering the guitar and bass. I even enjoy the drums and I like to tease Tedd that I missed my calling in life. I would have made a "cute" drummer in his band. He just laughs and shakes his head! Oh well, I guess I'll just concentrate on voice & piano, and being a great mom and scrapbooker!

Well, I finally took the plunge!

I have been toying with the idea of starting a blog for quite some time now, and finally decided to take the plunge. I confess that I don't know that much about blogging and those of you who know me can attest to my lack of computer skills. I do enjoy reading other blogs so hopefully I can learn as I go. I hope to use this blog as an opportunity to tell you more about myself and active family, as well as sharing more of the fabulous artwork and products that I love about Close To My Heart! I hope you enjoy these little daily peaks into my life, and who knows I might even start to become a master at blogging and the computer--in 50 years or so!
